Tv-docudrama over een historische natuurramp uit de antieke wereld die mogelijk aan de oorsprong ligt van de Atlantis-mythe. In 1620 voor Christus zorgde een vulkaanuitbarsting op Thera, nu bekend als Santorini, voor enorme zeebevingen. Kreta werd overspoeld door metershoge tsunami's. Deze catastrofe had een ongekende invloed op de eerste grote Europese beschaving en betekende het einde van de Minoïsche cultuur.
