Hal Ashby, de regisseur, probeert het gevoel van een Rolling Stones-concert op film vast te leggen. Hij filmde tijdens drie shows van de bandtour en combineerde deze tot één geheel. De camera wisselt van standpunt en komt zelfs op het podium bij de bandleden. In de film voeren de Rolling Stones vijfentwintig nummers uit.
